Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Home Automation Australia (HAA). By engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms outline how we deliver smart home solutions, protect your interests, and operate with transparency and integrity.

1. Service Scope

HAA provides consulting, installation, and setup services for smart home technologies. Our offerings may include hardware provisioning, remote support, tailored onboarding, and troubleshooting across compatible devices. All services are performed at the customer’s request and may be subject to limitations based on device compatibility and network conditions.

2. Customer Responsibilities

To enable effective service delivery, customers agree to:

  • Provide accurate details about their devices, home environment, and technical requirements
  • Ensure safe access to relevant areas of the property (if in-person service is arranged)
  • Confirm availability for appointments and respond to communications promptly

3. Data Privacy & Security 

HAA is not responsible for delays or issues caused by incomplete or incorrect information provided by the customer.

A significant part of our service includes remote access to customer computers, which carries inherent risks. By engaging our services, customers acknowledge and accept that:

  • Remote sessions may involve changes to system settings or software configurations.
  • HAA will take reasonable care during remote access but cannot guarantee that technical issues will not arise.
  • Customers are responsible for backing up their data prior to any remote session.
  • HAA shall not be liable for any data loss, system malfunction, or perceived damage resulting from remote access, unless caused by proven negligence.
  • Customers must remain present during the session and ensure no confidential files are open.

For best practices on remote desktop usage, we recommend reviewing the Australian Cyber Security Centre’s guidelines.

Remote Access Disclaimer
By permitting HAA to remotely access your computer, you acknowledge and accept that this access is granted solely for the purpose of service delivery. HAA will exercise reasonable care but is not liable for any direct or indirect damages, including data loss, system failure, or software conflicts, unless caused by proven negligence. Customers are responsible for ensuring their system is backed up and secure prior to remote access.

4. Payment & Fees

Fees for services are clearly communicated in advance and may vary based on the scope of work, service tier, or location. Payment terms must be agreed upon prior to commencement. HAA does not offer refunds for completed work unless a fault or omission on our part is substantiated.

5. Limitations & Liability

HAA provides guidance and setup based on manufacturer specifications and best practices. However:

  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted device performance post-installation
  • We are not responsible for hardware malfunctions or third-party app issues
  • Technical support is limited to the scope of the original engagement unless otherwise agreed

Under no circumstances shall HAA be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use or misuse of smart home products installed or configured during our services.

6. Third-Party Products

While HAA may assist in selecting and installing third-party hardware and software, we do not control or endorse those products. Customers are responsible for reviewing any third-party warranties, terms of use, or service agreements associated with their devices.

7. Changes to Terms

These Terms and Conditions may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our services, legal obligations, or customer feedback. We encourage users to check this page regularly. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

Return and Refund Policy

🔁 Return & Refund Policy

Effective Date: July 2025
This Return & Refund Policy applies to all products and services purchased through Home Automation Australia (HAA). We are committed to customer satisfaction and strive to resolve any issues promptly and fairly.

📦 1. Terms of Return

  • Products may be returned within 14 calendar days of receipt of goods.
  • Services are eligible for partial refund within 7 days of engagement if HAA has not yet completed the agreed scope of work.
  • Returns outside these periods may not be accepted unless required by law.

👕 2. State of Return

  • Products must be unused, in original packaging, and in resalable condition.
  • Any accessories, documentation, or bonus items must be returned with the product.
  • Items damaged due to misuse, modification, or neglect are not eligible for return.

🚚 3. Acceptable Reasons for Return

We accept returns for the following reasons:

  • Incorrect product shipped
  • Product damaged during transit
  • Product not functioning as described
  • Service scope not fulfilled as agreed

We do not accept returns for:

  • Change of mind after installation or service completion
  • Compatibility issues unless advised by HAA during consultation

📩 4. Process for Return

To initiate a return:

  1. Contact HAA Customer Support at admin@homeautomationaustralia.com.au with your order number and reason for return.
  2. Our team will guide you through packaging and shipment requirements.
  3. Once the item is received and inspected, you’ll be notified of approval or rejection.

Please note: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the item was faulty or sent in error.

💰 5. Process of Refund

  • Approved refunds will be processed to the original payment method.
  • Refunds are issued within 5–10 business days after return approval.
  • For services, eligible partial refunds will be pro-rated based on the completed portion.

We reserve the right to deny a refund if returned products do not meet the criteria above.
